Brooklyn Stickball Set
As a sequel to my last post, I thought it would be fun to bring about a favorite past time street sport of an era that is gone but not forgotten--stickball. This street sport modeled after the America's national past time game was a Brooklyn neighborhood tradition. The game was very makeshift; manhole covers were used as homeplate or second base, and parked cars or lamp posts were used to complete the diamond.
Set up a game in your neighborhood and play like they use to in Brooklyn.
My formative years were spent in Canarsie and I can remember the summer days of non-stop stickball play. I remember having broken a window with the spaldeen balls. Very neat blog!
