Essential | A.Posse Sneakers

So its been some time since I last posted, but I am finally back and just in time for the holidays.  During my hiatus, I received a number of questions about gift ideas for a man who has everything.  So I thought I would answer this questions in multiple parts so I can feature one essential piece a day until Christmas Eve.

Just to catch you all up, during my time away, I developed a new found appreciation for unique sneakers.  If you know where I'm heading with this, your absolutely wrong.  Brands like Common Projects, Lanvin, or Raf Simons has nothing on A.Posse, a New York based sneaker company.

Founded by Stephen Sung, this limited production sneaker company takes cues from classic sneakers of our time and fuses them with modern day ingenuity.  The result is a minimalist look that is neither fancy or opulent, but simple, stylish, wearable, and amazingly comfortable.

Each sneaker is made of full grain cow leather with Napa finishing and the interior is made of high quality pig leather.  This mix creates a super supple feel and a sneaker that ages gracefully.

For those who have everything, I would take a stroll over to A.Posse to pick up a pair of these limited run sneakers.  I can guarantee that "someone" does not have a pair of these.  I suggest pre-ordering a pair as there is a fairly extensive wait list.
My personal favorite is the Fulton.

Essential Sneakers | Tretorn Nylite

Tretorn | Nylite

While this is by no means something fresh off the press, I still love the Tretorn Nylites.  They are truly a classic shoe that is meant for the timeless gentleman looking for that classic sneak that withstands the test of time.  A truly essential piece that pairs well with khaki's or jeans.

Essential Kicks | Nike Tennis Classic Vintage

Nike Tennis Classic Vintage

In my pursuit to collect vintage Nike's, I stumbled upon these. The Nike Tennis Classic's is a made to look like vintage tennis sneaker that is very reminiscent to that of the Adidas Rod Laver's. In fact at first glance, I honestly mistook them to be the Rod Lavers, until a second glance uncovered that they were in fact Nike's. I happen to love everything about these. From the vintage worn in look to the perforated nike symbol, these are truly awesome sneakers. They are perfect for both jeans or khaki's. Pick'em up before they become mainstream and every kid has a pair.

Essential Sneakers | Startas

It is very seldom that I do posts on sneakers, but it's the summer. On that very note, I introduce to you all Startas sneakers. Born in 1976 in booming communist Yugoslavia, Startas sneakers were once – and are now again – a sports and style icon! Originally designed for table tennis players, the soft canvas shoes were made by Borovo in Vukovar, in a factory established in 1931. Startas canvas sneakers soon became a legendary part of socialist cultural heritage. Very soon startas grew to be the biggest sports brand in the former federation, so big that it was one of the major sponsors of the 1987 Univerzijada international student games, a major sporting event that hosted more than 3900 athletes from 122 countries – all of whom were equipped in Startas sportswear. And now, after 17 years of being in recluse, Startas sneakers have been revived, revamped and redesigned.

Archives | 1960's Seavees

Seavees

Formally produced by B.F. Goodrich, these 1964 Seavees have not changed much in the way of style. The only thing that differs in the revival of the Seavees are, they are no longer produced by B.F. Goodrich. As for whats intact, the casual style of California in the 1960's still oozes from the current day version. The casual style of these sneakers will be perfect for the summer months, and a great alternative to your Tretorn, Converse's, or Vans. Own a piece of the past!

Essential | New Balance x United Arrows 997.5

New Balance x United Arrows 997.5

When it comes to sneakers, I am a sucker for the classics. New Balance have paired up with high end Japanese retailer United Arrows to produce these amazing Limited Edition 997's. The colloboration updates the classic, yet drab 997, with a pop of color. The 997's will be offered in two colors; the first is a very simple, grey, while the other adds in some pink and purple accents. I love these!

Essential | Prefontaine Nike Waffle Racers

1971 Nike Waffle Racer

The Nike Waffle Racers is a throwback sneaker that is reminiscent to the original waffle sneaker that Bill Bowerman, Phil Knight and Steve Prefontaine created back at the University of Oregon. Although a little different, the shoe is very similar to that of the original shoe. I mean at first glance, you would probably mistake it for the real thing. Thats because, Nike has gone all out and has been given these the ultimate vintage treatment. The historic runners are featured in red/white, navy/white, and green/white.
